Search for the name on the SakuraHost domain search. If it shows as available, you can register it straight away, and if it is taken you will see alternatives.
Overview
A domain name can only belong to one owner at a time. Before you pay, check that your name is free in the extension you want, such as .co.tz or .com.
Why it happens
- Popular business names are often already registered, sometimes years ago.
- A name may be free as a .com but taken as a .co.tz, or the other way round.
What it means
If a name is taken, you cannot register it, but you can choose a close variation or another ending. If the name is not in use by anyone and the registration has lapsed, it may become available after the registry releases it.
How to fix it
- Open the domain search on SakuraHost and type the name without spaces or special characters.
- Choose the ending (.co.tz, .or.tz, .com, .net, .org and others).
- If it is available, add it to the cart and pay. Activation takes only a few minutes after payment is confirmed.
- If it is taken, try a short variation, add your town or service, or choose another ending.
- Need help choosing? Read which .tz domain should you choose.
