Domains are activated within 10 minutes of payment confirmation. If yours is still pending after that, the usual cause is a payment that has not been matched yet or a missing detail on the order.

Overview

After you pay, the system matches your payment to your invoice, then registers the domain at the registry and sends you a confirmation email. When all of that works, you see the domain as Active in the client area.

Why it happens

  • The payment was made with a different name or number, so it needs matching to your invoice by hand.
  • The amount was lower than the invoice total, so the invoice is still unpaid.
  • The domain name was taken by someone else between your search and your payment.
  • A required detail on the order, such as the registrant contact, is missing.

What it means

Your money is not lost. Either the payment is waiting to be matched, or the order needs one more detail. Support can confirm and finish the registration quickly if you send the payment proof.

How to fix it

  1. Open the client area and check the invoice: is it marked Paid? If yes, wait up to 10 minutes and refresh My Domains.
  2. Check your email, including spam, for the domain confirmation.
  3. If the invoice still shows Unpaid, reply to the invoice email or open a ticket with the payment reference, amount, date and the phone number or bank account used.
  4. If the name was taken, we will offer an alternative or a refund. See cancel an order or request a refund.
  5. For global domains, also watch for the verification email: ICANN domain verification.
