This page is the starting point for everything about domain names at SakuraHost: registering a .co.tz, .tz or .com domain, connecting it to a website or email, renewing it and fixing common problems.

Overview

A domain name is your business address on the internet. At SakuraHost you can register Tanzanian domains (.co.tz, .or.tz, .ac.tz and other .tz names) and global domains (.com, .net, .org and more). Each domain is managed from your client area, where you can change nameservers, edit DNS records, renew and update contact details.

Why it happens

  • Tanzanian (.tz) domains are run by the national registry, TZNIC, which only manages nameservers and basic registration data.
  • Global domains follow ICANN rules, which add steps such as email verification.
  • Your website, email and apps are connected to your domain through DNS records, so a small mistake there can break all three.

What it means

Most domain problems fall into four groups: ordering and activation, connecting the domain to a website or email, DNS changes that have not taken effect, and renewal or expiry. The guides below are grouped the same way.

How to fix it

  1. New domain: read how to check if a domain is available, then which .tz extension to choose.
  2. Paid but the domain is not active: see I paid for my domain but it is not active.
  3. Connecting to a website: Netlify, Vercel, other platforms, or DNS problems: start here.
  4. Renewing or recovering a domain: renew a domain and expired domains.
  5. Seeing an error on a .tz domain: registrar lock error or DNS Management error.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I manage my domain?

Sign in to the SakuraHost client area, open My Domains and choose your domain. Nameservers, DNS records, renewal and contact details are all there.

Do I need hosting to own a domain?

No. You can register a domain on its own and connect it later to any website, app or email service.
