Change nameservers from the Nameservers tab of your domain in the client area. Whichever nameservers you set decide where your DNS records must be edited.

Overview

Nameservers are the servers that hold your DNS records. SakuraHost DNS uses ns-tz1 to ns-tz4.sakurahost.co.tz. You can also point your domain to another provider, such as Cloudflare or Netlify DNS.

Why it happens

  • You want to use another DNS provider for speed, security or a platform that asks for it.
  • You are moving a website to or from SakuraHost.

What it means

Once you change nameservers, the records at the old provider stop being used. Copy your existing records to the new provider before you switch, so website and email do not break.

How to fix it

  1. Write down your current DNS records, especially A, CNAME, MX and TXT.
  2. Add the same records at the new DNS provider.
  3. In the client area open My Domains, choose your domain and open Nameservers.
  4. Choose custom nameservers, enter the ones your provider gave you and save.
  5. Wait for the change to spread: domain not working after a DNS change.
  6. To use SakuraHost DNS again, enter ns-tz1, ns-tz2, ns-tz3 and ns-tz4 .sakurahost.co.tz.

Frequently asked questions

Do .tz domains accept custom nameservers?

Yes. You can set them in the Nameservers tab, and the .tz registry updates them.

Will my email stop working?

Only if the MX records are missing at the new provider, so copy all records first.
