To add your business email to a phone or Outlook, use your full email address as the username, the incoming mail server mail.yourdomain with IMAP port 993, and the outgoing server with SMTP port 465, both with SSL.

Overview

Mail apps need a few settings to connect: the server name, the port, the security type and your login. The values below work for most mailboxes.

Why it happens

  • Apps often guess the wrong settings automatically, so the account does not connect.

What it means

Entering the settings by hand fixes most connection errors. If your domain's DNS points somewhere else, use the mail server name from your welcome email.

How to fix it

  1. Username: your full email address, for example info@yourdomain.co.tz.
  2. Incoming (IMAP): server mail.yourdomain.co.tz, port 993, security SSL/TLS.
  3. Outgoing (SMTP): server mail.yourdomain.co.tz, port 465, security SSL/TLS, with authentication on.
  4. Use the same username and password for outgoing mail.
  5. Follow the detailed phone steps: configure email on iPhone, Android and Outlook.
  6. Connection fails? Check the password: password rejected.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use IMAP or POP3?

IMAP keeps your mail on the server so every device sees the same inbox. Use IMAP unless you have a reason for POP3.

The mail server name does not work.

Use the server name in your welcome email. It can differ when your domain's website is hosted elsewhere.
