After you register a global domain such as .com, .net or .org, you will receive an email asking you to verify your domain registration details. Open it and complete the verification, because an unverified domain can be suspended.
Overview
ICANN, the body that oversees global domain names, requires every owner of a global domain to confirm that their contact details are real. The verification email is sent by the domain registrar to the email address on the domain registration. It is not sent by SakuraHost, and it does not apply to .tz domains.
Why it happens
- ICANN requires contact details to be verified for every new global domain and when the owner details change.
- The email comes from the registrar's systems, so it can look unfamiliar and may land in spam.
What it means
If you do not verify within the time ICANN allows (normally 15 days), the domain can be suspended and your website and email on it can stop working until you verify.
How to fix it
- Search your inbox and your spam or junk folder for an email about verifying your domain registration details.
- Open the email and click the verification link.
- Check the page confirms the verification was successful.
- If you cannot find the email, open a ticket and we will check the contact email on the registration and ask for it to be sent again.
- If the email address on the domain is wrong, tell us so it can be corrected before verification.
